Aquaria Phuket · Central Phuket Floresta

Phuket Aquarium

Thailand's largest aquarium: a 3.5-million-litre shark and ray tank with a walk-through tunnel, penguins, otters and an underwater mermaid show.

Tickets

Aquaria Phuket is an indoor aquarium in the Central Phuket Floresta mall on the edge of Phuket Town. It opened in 2019 and is billed as the largest aquarium in Thailand.

The route leads through themed zones, from a freshwater forest inspired by the mythical Himmapan to the South China Sea, the main tank with sharks and rays. Not to be confused with the older state-run aquarium at Cape Panwa in the south-east of the island.

Main zones of the Phuket Aquarium

A sand tiger shark swimming under the rippled surface of the main tank at Aquaria Phuket

South China Sea

The 3.5-million-litre main tank: sharks, rays and big shoals pass over a curved walk-through tunnel. The mermaid show takes place here.

Two clownfish and cleaner shrimp among corals and a sea plant

The River Caves

Asian small-clawed otters in a cave setting. Try to catch their daily feeding, usually in the late morning.

A green sea turtle swimming among small fish over a pebble bottom

Coastal Haven

Humboldt penguins on a rocky shore, with sea turtles and sharks in the same zone.

Two harlequin shrimp on a red starfish in front of purple corals

Stingray Bay and a shipwreck

Colourful corals and several species of stingray. Next door is a sunken-ship exhibit.

A large catfish gliding past a green-lit branch in the freshwater tank

Mystic Forest

Freshwater giants such as arapaima up to 3 m long, in a Himmapan-forest setting. The Canopy Walk above lets you look down on them from treetop level.

Moon jellyfish glowing pink in a blue-lit tank at Aquaria Phuket

Station Aquarius

The last zone: jellyfish drifting under coloured light and an interactive touch pool, popular with children.

Mermaid show and feedings

In the South China Sea zone, performers in silicone tails put on an underwater mermaid show and ballet inside the main tank, usually twice a day except on Mondays. Aquarists also run feeding demonstrations through the day.

The programme can change without notice, so check the current times before you plan your visit around a show. The schedule is also posted on the Klook ticket page.

Before you go

Is Aquaria Phuket worth visiting?

It is the island's easiest big day out when it rains: fully indoors, air-conditioned and in a mall with food and parking. Families get the most from it, with penguins, otters, the touch pool and the mermaid show. If you have seen large aquariums elsewhere, note that part of the tunnel is mirrored glass rather than a full underwater walkway.

How do I use an online ticket?

Buy it through Klook at least 2–3 hours before your visit, then show the voucher at the counter at the aquarium entrance to collect a physical ticket. Confirmation is instant, but the ticket cannot be cancelled.

How long does a visit take?

About 1.5–2 hours. Allow more with children or if you want to watch the mermaid show and a feeding. Last admission is at 18:00.

When is it least crowded?

Right at opening at 10:30 or after 17:00, and on weekdays rather than weekends.

What should I bring?

A light jacket or long sleeves: inside it is about 18–20 °C. Photos are allowed but without flash. There are lockers and toilets inside, and the aquarium is wheelchair accessible.

Can I eat or drink inside?

Yes. A small café sells coffee, soft drinks and snacks, and Su Va Na, an underwater fine-dining restaurant, sits beside its own viewing tank. Central Floresta upstairs has plenty of cheaper options.

Is this the aquarium at Cape Panwa?

No. The state aquarium at Cape Panwa is a different, older place in the south-east of the island. Aquaria Phuket is in Central Phuket Floresta near Phuket Town. How to get to Aquaria
